Michaela Perez

Research Assistant

I’m a fourth-year undergraduate student currently helping coordinate a Mitacs-funded project by PhD student Kathryn Bolton. The study is a randomized controlled trial exploring the benefits of a music program on the psychosocial and cognitive functions of older adults.

As an honours thesis student, I am also conducting an independent project as an extension of the Mitacs-funded study. My study will focus on the immediate benefits of music on arousal and pleasantness ratings of older adult participants. With a lifelong passion for music, I’m excited to explore how it enhances emotional well-being.

As I near graduation, I’m eager to pursue further studies in researching music and psychology, driven by a desire to contribute to the field.
