2SLGBTQ+ Health: Trainings, Certifications, & Workshops

Rainbow Health Ontario provides free training and resources to help healthcare and social service providers better serve 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. 

Egale is a national community organization that aims to improve the lives of 2SLGBTQ+ people in Canada. They offer free webinars and resources related to 2SLGBTQ+ health

TransCare+ offers free resources on 2SLGBTQ+ basics, including terminology, the importance of intersectionality, pronoun use, and how to be an ally. They also offer a library of resources, readings, and trainings for care provider and educators.

The 519 Education and Training team provides organizations with the insights, tools, and understanding to create environments that are 2SLGBTQ+ inclusive, respectful and welcoming.

This resource is designed to help build understanding and comfort, particularly for those who are new to LGBTQ+ issues.

2SLGBTQ+ Health:

Toolkits & Reports

This guide is designed for anyone who care for trans youth, and includes the recent evidence-based research and includes first-person accounts from children and their families.

Wisdom2Action has a variety of community-facing reports on matters that impact the 2SLGBTQIA+ community (e.g., gender-based violence, digital harms/hate, youth mental health, etc.). 

The CBRC has a wide variety of reports and publications on Canadian 2sLGBTQ+ health across multiple fields (e.g., sexual health, substance use, etc.). They also have a library of past presentations/webinars.

Substance Use & Harm Reduction

From the National Harm Reduction Coalition. Whether you are launching a new program, training new team members, or want to refresh your harm reduction knowledge, these online classes will give you the tools you need to support people who use drugs. Includes a certificate of completion. 

LGBT Youthline has a variety of reading on substance use and harm reduction based practices. 

On Trans-Competent Care

This checklist helps agencies check for areas of setting up trans-competent services.

TransCare+ has compiled a library of readings for care providers on a number of different topics, including best practices for healthcare providers, programs, and services to offer inclusive care to 2SLGBTQ+ community.

This guide is designed for anyone who care for trans youth, and includes the recent evidence-based research and includes first-person accounts from children and their families.

BIPOC Women’s Health Network offers information and tips on how to provide more equitable (e.g., sexual health care) to trans folks.

The Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health (CPATH) has published ethical guidelines for research involving trans folks; this resource is offered in English and in French.

On Gender-Affirming Care

The Path to Patient-Centred Care is a living resource for offering better patient-centred care to transgender adults seeking gender-affirming medicine in Canada.

TransCare+ has a library of free e-learnings on topics of HRT, reproductive justice, and community care. They also have a library of resources for care providers on a variety of topics like trainings youth gender-affirming medical option and on prescribing gender-affirming care.

This zine shares data from the Progress Survey and is a resource for adults thinking about or planning on having phalloplasty. It’s also a good educational resource for care providers to have and share with patients!

On Equitable Care

Equitable Care Certification offers a comprehensive 12-course certification for both licensed & unlicensed mental health professional to provide equitable care to their clients. By sex workers for sex work-affirming therapists and sex working therapists. They also have a library of past presentations/webinars.

This list was created in disability community to help educate providers in serving disabled patients and communities. 

BIPOC Women’s Health Network offers information and tips on how to provide more equitable care to black, indigenous and people of colour, as well as queer and trans folks.
