Data collection for the PACT Adult Pilot Study occurred between January – September 2022. In total, 25 transgender and gender diverse (TGD) adults (19+) across Canada were recruited.
Participants were enrolled into a 21-day Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA), a process that allows for surveys to be shared and data to be collected, in real-time. The focus of these surveys centered around gender minority stress (GMS) and resilience, substance use, drinking motives, and alcohol-related harms.

Minority stressors have been linked with alcohol use among TGD populations; however, no EMA studies have been used to examine daily links between minority stress and alcohol use among TGD groups. This study examined GMS and resilience as predictors of same-day or momentary alcohol-related outcomes. Feasibility and acceptability of procedures were evaluated.
TGD adults may be at increased risk for alcohol use due to GMS and specific drinking motives. This study examines the relations between GMS and resilience, drinking motives, and alcohol outcomes among TGD adults.
