Dr. Pelin Tanberg received her BSc from Wilfrid Laurier University and her MSc from Queen’s University. She received her PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Waterloo, advised by Dr. Colin MacLeod and Dr. Myra Fernandes. Her graduate work tested a theory of how humans intentionally control their memories by removing outdated information in both younger and older adults. Now, as a postdoctoral research fellow working with Dr. Julia Spaniol, her research seeks to understand how memory control and metamemory processes contribute differentially to reliance on external technologies (i.e., smartphones). In her free time, she enjoys working on her calligraphy skills, spin classes, yin yoga, and developing new recipes.
