Teen Sleep
In the SAD Lab, we are passionate about improving access to sleep treatments for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with poor sleep.
With the help of teens, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Pivot Health and TochTech, we designed a free sleep app for teens called DOZE. Teens suffer from a multitude of sleep issues, not just insomnia, and increasing time in bed is not going to solve it. Based on Dr. Harvey’s groundbreaking treatment combining an adapted CBT for insomnia, motivational interviewing and Interpersonal Social Rhythm Therapy (e.g, Harvey et al., 2015), our app provides tailored, evidence-based, self-management help. SADLAB provided the sleep science and teens provided the design.

Dr. Colleen Carney spoke to Scientia about how DOZE is helping teens sleep better. To learn more about the results of our recent studies using DOZE, check out our infographic here.
