Find out what we are working on

Research in the Indigenous Experiences lab is currently focused using education to reduce anti-Indigenous racism. In many programs across the country, education is used to reduce anti-Indigenous racism. This may be through cultural competency modules or public service announcements. There is relatively little evidence, however, about how education might reduce anti-Indigenous racism. Do increases in knowledge about Indigenous people reduce anti-Indigenous racism? What about increases in empathy? Or is it simply increased exposure through different representations in the media? These are the questions we seek to answer in this stream of research.

Dr. Efimoff and the lab are also variously engaged in research on Indigenization, reconciliation, and cultural connection.
