Data collection for the PACT Youth Pilot Study occurred between September 2022 – May 2023. In total, 40 transgender and gender diverse (TGD) youth (18-29) across Canada were recruited.\u00a0<\/p>

Youth were enrolled into\u00a0 a 21-day Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA), a process that allows for surveys to be shared, and data to be collected, in real-time. The focus of these surveys centered around gender minority stress (GMS) and resilience, substance use, drinking motives, and alcohol-related harms.\u00a0<\/span>A subset of 19 youth also participated in a one-on-one interview to gain a better understanding of their lived\/living experiences. Questions focused on the topics of GMS and resilience, alcohol-use, and alcohol-related harms.<\/span><\/p>

An Ecological Momentary Assessment Study of Daily and Momentary Predictors of Alcohol Outcomes in Transgender and Gender Diverse Youth<\/a><\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Forty transgender and gender diverse youth participated in a 21-day daily\/momentary assessment to examine their alcohol use, risks, and related harms.<\/p>

Gender minority stressors (e.g., discrimination, gender non-affirmation, etc.) are a risk factor for same-day alcohol use. Resilience factors may also be linked to increases in same-day use (e.g., through social\/conformity reasons).<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This community-facing report summarizes findings from both the EMA surveys and interview portions of he PACT Youth Study.<\/p>\n

Five recommendations are outlined to help mitigate harmful alcohol use and ultimately support the health and well-being of TGD youth.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Exploring Alcohol Use and Harm Reduction Techniques among Transgender and Gender Diverse Youth in Canada: A Qualitative Study<\/a><\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

TGD youth may be at increased risk for alcohol use due to GMS and specific drinking motives. Nineteen youth across Canada were interviewed and shared their lived experiences surrounding GMS, drinking motives and implications of alcohol use. Harm reduction techniques used by youth were also explored.<\/span><\/p>
