Ahmad Alftieh, a masters student at ARCAI,  was recently involved in co-authoring a paper published in Behavior Therapy. Ahmad introduces the research in the following: <\/span><\/p>\n

“The science of microaggressions has advanced significantly in conceptual and theoretical clarity over the last 15 years. Many initial assumptions about the nature of microaggressions have since been found to be incorrect. This state of the science on racial microaggressions<\/i> review addresses these concerns by reviewing the concept, validated measures, physical and mental health impacts, critiques and misinformation, recommended strategies and interventions, and clinical implications. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

The primary objectives of this review include (a) defining racial microaggressions and identifying issues related to the conceptual clarity, types, and dimensions of racial microaggressions; (b) providing a synthesis of the divergence in current<\/div>\n

conceptual and theoretical thinking, assumptions, and relationships among measures of racial microaggressions; (c) a review of the impact of racial microaggressions on individuals; and (d) identifying gaps and opportunities for future research.”
